ABITARE 1- zto completamento 2016-in progress
Il tema dell'abitare è visto all'interno dei confini infrastrutturali della città di Mestre in una zona residenziale, una zto B come definita in gergo urbanistico un'area di completamento.
Fino a qualche anno fa definita come zona di espansione C, quest'area si sviluppa negli ultimi sessant'anni e, ormai divenuta un vero e proprio quartiere, la lettura del suo tessuto edilizio racconta l'evoluzione e la stratificazione dell'insediamento a partire dal boom edilizio che nel dopoguerra ha convulsivamente investito la città di terraferma Mestre, a seguito dello sviluppo industriale di Porto Marghera.
In questa parte di città, analogamente che in altre parti decentrate rispetto il nucleo urbano originario costituito dall'antico borgo di Mestre, dove un tempo il territorio era a vocazione contadina con campi e abitazioni unifamiliari rurali connesse all'attività agricola, il rapido sviluppo edilizio avvenne con violente parcellizzazioni degli appezzamenti agricoli e la successiva vendita speculativa dei piccoli lotti quadrangolari, tutti simili per forma e grandezza con qualche eccezione, a destinazione residenziale, con la conseguente individualizzazione delle casette unifamiliari spesso avvenuta in "autocostruzione" e piccoli condomini tutti uguali eretti dai costruttori, realizzati con forme povere e modeste e con la facile licenza edilizia di allora, limitando al massimo la progettazione con iterazioni prive di identità e di contestualizzazione ambientale e successivamente modificate con aggiunte in giustapposizione senza alcun criterio, volte all'immediato soddisfacimento di esigenze funzionali al limite dell'economia.
Siamo nel regno dei tetti a falda asimmetrici fatti con i "travetti varese" delle verande e controfinestre in alluminio anodizzato, delle superfetazioni in "onduline" (lamiera, plastica verde o eternit che sia), delle recinzioni personalizzate, degli orti improvvisati e giardinetti più o meno curati. Rispetto i condomini che sono aggregati e circoscritti per sottoaree, prevalgono le case singole, più o meno vecchie e curate, con le solite aggiunte raffazzonate, in un tessuto urbano di quartiere dove non manca niente, dalle scuole ai supermercati ai servizi di prima necessità, ai servizi di trasporto urbano finno all'artigiano che aggiusta biciclette e all'hotel.
Le riprese sono fatte ad altezza umana per focalizzare sulla percezione dell'abitare in relazione alle stette strade di accesso, ovvero dell'attacco a terra dell'edificio, dando risalto a quest'ultimo con modulazioni di luce e luminosità. Procedendo con le riprese ci si rende conto che è quasi sempre impossibile riprendere un edificio nella sua interezza, scontrandosi continuamente con recinzioni di ogni tipo, siepi, cancelli, passi carrai, portelloni in lamiera di garages, stratificazioni che segnano gli anni e il mutamento delle esigenze e necessità abitative, con la trascuratezza degli intonaci e con la cura degli stessi, la personalizzazione in un ambito in cui la componente naturale è fagocitata dall'antropizzazione individualisticamente scriteriata ed esiste solo nella cura di alcuni giardinetti privati e orti.
Diverse domesticità, diverse classi sociali, diverse abitudini e digntà, ma anche diversità di età, di cultura, di gusto segnano le diversità dell'abitare da cui scaturisce un'umanità eterogenea in un quartiere nato in fretta e male e in continua trasformazione.

LIVING 1 - completion - The theme of living is here seen within the infrastructural boundaries of the city of Mestre in a residential area, a “zto B” as defined in urban-planning jargon a completion area.
Until few years ago was defined as a "expansion zone C", this area in the last sixty years and now become a real neighborhood, the reading of the urban fabric of the area tells the evolution and stratification of the settlement, starting from the construction boom that frenetically hit the mainland city of Mestre in the post-war period, following the industrial development of Marghera Port.
The ancient village of Mestre, where once the territory had a strong farming vocation with fields and rural, large family houses connected to agrarian labor.
But in this “zto-B” part of the city, similarly to the other areas away from the original urban nucleus of ancient Mestre, the rapid building development occurred with the agressive parcelling out of the farm plot of lands and the subsequent speculative sale of these small quadrangular lots, all similar in shape and size, with some exceptions, for residential use, with the resulting individualization of family houses in single -family houses, often in "self-construction", and the rise of small block of flats one alike the other, built with poor and modest shapes and with the easy-to-gain building permit of that time, limiting as much as possible the design with iterations without any identity and environmental contextualization and then modified with juxtaposing additions without any kind of criteria, aiming at the immediate satisfaction of functional requirements at the edge of frugality.
We are in the realm of asymmetrical pitched roofs made with the "varese joists", of the verandas and double windows in anodized aluminum, of the superfetations in "onduline" (sheet metal, green plastic or eternit), of customized fences, of impromptu vegetable gardens and flowerbeds more or less well-finished. Compared to flat complex that are aggregated and circumscribed by sub-areas, the single-house prevail, more or less old and well-kept, with the usual patchy additions, in an urban neighborhood fabric where nothing is missing, from schools to supermarkets, to basic necessities, to urban transport services, to hotels up to the craftsman who fixes bicycles.
The shots are taken at human height in order to focus on the perception of inhabit in relation to the same access roads, or rather of the ground connection of the building, highlighting the latter with modulations of light and brightness. Proceeding with the shooting we realize that it is almost always impossible to frame a building in its entirety, continuosly colliding with fences of all kinds, hedges, gates, driveways, garage doors, stratifications that mark the years and the change of necessity and housing needs, with the neglect of the plaster and with the care of the same, the customization in an area where the natural component is swallowed up by the individualistically reckless anthropization and exists only in the care of some private gardens and vegetable gardens.
Different domesticities, different social classes, different habits and dignity, but also differences of age, culture, taste mark the diversity of living from which a heterogeneous humanity springs in a neighborhood born in a hurry and badly and in continuous transformation
